Handball Association of India was founded by Jagat Singh Lohan from Rohtak (Haryana), who was an alumnus of YMCA College of Physical Education of Madras (now Chennai). Lohan was founder of handball, netball and throwball games in India. His efforts during Munich Olympics helped in establishing HFI. The member states were Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Vidharbha and Jammu and Kashmir. He was also elected as first secretary general of Handball Federation of India.
The 10th Asian Women’s Youth (U18) Handball Championship will take place at the Noida Indoor Stadium in Noida, India, from July 15 – 24, 2023. It will be the third time that the competition will be hosted in India.
The competition will also serve as a qualification event for the World Championship, with the top 5 teams qualifying for the 10th IHF Women’s Youth (U18) Handball World Championship, to be held in July or August 2024.
